Barbie Waffles

So, we're in the King Soopers, trying to find waffles for Jonathan. He developed a hankering for waffles within the past couple of weeks. He claims he bolted upright in the middle of the night, exclaiming, "WAFFLES!" Karen was unaware of such an outburst, but it makes a good story, so we'll go with it. So, there we are, beneath the godawful fluorescent lights, before the clinical glass doors, checking out the waffles. Like everything else in King Soopers, there are about a million varieties of frozen waffles. Round, square, blueberries.... So, there we are, mulling over the waffles, and suddenly we see them: Barbie Waffles. Otherwise unremarkable, these are round waffles with images of Barbie printed on them. Yep. And, they become a shiny beacon calling out to us: "Be true to your 1970s upbringing, cultural iconism, and sense of scathing irony. BUY US!" And, so we did.

What is one person's beacon, is another's repulsion. Need a 70's icon? Check out www.neildiamond.com ...oh, so beautiful! :)
